To date, C.A. Nicola has completed three short films based on his Capricieux character, and has created shorts based on multiple performers and creatives that he admires in the New York area. His first film Capricieux’s Quest has won a few awards from film festivals including “Best Experimental Comedy” from Night of Comedy Shorts film festival based in Milan, Italy. C.A. Nicola continues to learn to improve on his craft whether it is working on production on another filmmaker’s project, or acting on set. He has also used his training in improv to help him pivot and improvise when the situation calls for it.

C.A. Nicola is a filmmaker & photographer based out of New York. He has shaped his style from his clown character Capricieux, which was born in late 2017 following a year of clown training, along with training in other disciplines of performance. It was during the pandemic where he took the time to get more into the art of filmmaking and photography, which has brought him to a whole new chapter in his whimsical world of creativity. He has been both behind and in front of the camera, which he enjoys both immensely.
Shooting portraits has been greatly inspired by C.A.s love of classic portraiture in art and cinema. He almost always has a camera with him and uses it to the advantage of capturing all that interests him whether it is of everyday products, or something more majestic.

C.A. started trying his hand at experimental and expired film in 2023 after enough time getting comfortable shooting on standard color and black and white films. It has brought his photography to new dimensions and helped depict ordinary subjects as far more unconventional.
